Crossing the Cook Strait

After almost four weeks on the North Island we crossed the Cook Strait from Wellington to Picton on board of the Kaitaki interislander ferry. Luckily our ship stayed all in one piece unlike the Aratere which lost a propeller in November, midway through a crossing from Picton to Wellington … just on time for the Christmas peak travel season.

The 3 1/2 hour boat trip was rather uneventful (apart from a surprisingly large number of people who disagreed quite badly with the rolling of the ship in the open ocean – *urgh*).

Bye bye Wellington …
